ARTIST STATEMENT
For the last thirty years, I have made quilts for a living... and yet, I have never liked being referred to as a "quilt maker". That term seemed to be more focused on the final product, rather than the process. And for me, it’s the process that is significant... far more significant than the finished piece

My "art form" is that I cut things apart and put them back together into a more pleasing "whole". I start with a vague idea of where I’m going, but I’m very open to new ideas that suggest themselves along the way. Usually, the finished piece is very different than what I thought it would be when I started. It’s sort of like life. We never really end up where we thought we would when we were young.
But it’s the journey that holds the riches... not the finish line.

I have always loved working with textiles. I have also loved photography. For years, I have collected and photographed flea market treasures. Integrating all these "pieces of me" into a new art form is exhilarating...very satisfying. But the process is the same thing I’ve been doing for thirty years. Cutting apart and putting back together.
